About Naushad Surve.

Naushad has over 20 year of extensive teaching experience, having taught in the SEN sector for most of his career. He believes learning should have fun at its core, which creates a nurturing and inspiring environment for all aspects of pupils progress. He was a Councillor from 2007 to 2019.

Naushad is also Governor for St Stephens Primary School (as SEN and Safeguarding governor) and is a board member of Little Harwood Children’s Centre. He has previously served on Daisyfield Primary GB, Crosshill Special School GB and also Islamiyah Girls High School. Prior to being a Councillor he was the Chair of Little Harwood Residents Association – being a strong voice for the needs of its community.

For the Council, Naushad has been the Chair of the Councils Regeneration, Neighbourhoods, Leisure and Environment Scrutiny Committee since 2007 – overseeing many important initiatives such as the town centre transformation, re-developments, employment and apprentice opportunities. He was also the Secretary of the ruling Labour Group that runs the Council. He has also been on many other important committees that serve the Borough’s citizens, such as being Vice Chair of the Blackburn Racial Equality Council, the Economic Regeneration Board and Board Member of Blackburn CAB and CVS.
For over twenty years Naushad has helped in charity and fundraising initiatives. He founded and was the Chair of the community arts festival “Blackburn Mela” – which aided in community cohesion and fund-raised for many national charities.

Naushad is very passionate about being a campaigner and a strong voice for the vulnerable in society.

Naushad sits on the Finance, Resources & Premises and Pay committees.

Newfield School is committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults as its number one priority.

Full copies of Policies and Procedures related to all aspects of Safeguarding, and the Complaints Policy, are available on request from Rachel Kay, Head Teacher and Designated Senior Lead for Safeguarding and Child Protection.
