Developing our staff is important to us, so we invest a great deal in CPD - Continuing Professional Development. This year we are focussing on communication throughout the school and all staff are beginning to receive training to support all our students communication needs via a rolling programme. For the last two days some of our staff have taken part in Makaton training. Makaton signing is important for so many of our pupils to assist their spoken language and to support their understanding. SaLT Sandra, along with Assistant Head Teacher Laura delivered the training and all the staff were really positive about the training and are all eager to use their new skills back in class. Helping our pupils to be able to communicate is a key area of our work, so this training is vital in equipping staff with the skills to support pupils effectively.
