Parent Carer Workshop - World Book Day Eve

Today, the day before we celebrate World Book Day, English co-ordinators Georgie and Hayley put on a ‘Sensory Story Telling’ parents course. It focused on ‘The BFG’ by Roald Dahl and parent experienced first-hand how stories come to life here at Newfield. From exploring snozzcumbers and frobscottle to throwing the bad giants into a big hole, the session looked at how stories can be broken down into key parts and made accessible for all pupils. The 4D studio was used to create an immersive environment with lots of sounds and the interactive floor was lots of fun. The final task was to make a dream jar, some of which went well, others did not! Overall a lovely session and we hope our group of parents feel equipped to try out sensory stories at home with their children.
