TG5 Train Journey

Today TG5 went on a fabulous train journey from Blackburn to Preston. It was a great new experience for many of our pupils. They were accompanied by Daisy from Community Rail Lancashire who organised the day’s itinerary for us to experience different aspects of the railway as travellers. All the pupils had to ask/sign for a return ticket from the ticket office and received a real ticket. They had to do activities involving looking out for signs, timetables and warning signs during a tour around the station.

It was great to see the pupils socialising with passengers and they had the chance to fuss over babies in train carriages. Aatika mentioned that the train is noisy and wanted to know why. We then were given a short, but informative ‘lecture’ on diesel, petrol and electric locomotives. On the return journey, the train conductor came round to inspect Emily’s ticket and was kind enough to pose for a picture with Emily who got very excited. A special thanks to Daisy for making this treat happen and showing us how accessible it is to travel on the train.
