Introducing Eddie...

As you know we are fortunate to have the opportunity to have Baxter, the PAT dog coming into school, along with his trained handler, to spend time with the children, and this has really supported the wellbeing of pupils and staff in school.

We are delighted to inform you that we have also got another dog, Eddie, who belongs to the Headteacher and who is being trained to be a therapy dog.

Eddie will be spending time in school, to become familiar with the school environment. He will then undergo assessment and training (along with Headteacher Rik) from Pets As Therapy, the non-profit organisation that trains animals and their owners so that they can volunteer to bring joy, comfort and companionship to many individuals who appreciate being able to touch and stroke a friendly animal.

Our Pets As Therapy dog Baxter and will continue to visit school once a fortnight and spend time in classes with some children.

Once Eddie is trained and qualified, he will be fully supervised and will then also be able to spend time around the children.

We understand that some children are fearful of dogs and will be very careful which children spend time with Baxter and Eddie, in the future.
