Autism and Covid Vaccinations

Our students at Newfield who are 16 and over will be included in the next priority group to receive the Covid vaccine. Group 6 will also include parents and carers of these young people, which is great news.It is important that families make themselves known to their GP so that they can receive an appointment. The GP surgery will contact families with an appointment time and location. The following information outlines the criteria.

People aged 16-64 who have underlying health conditions which put them at higher risk of serious disease and mortality, including people with a severe or profound learning disability. Group 6 also includes unpaid carers, including people who are in receipt of Carer’s Allowance or are the main carer of an elderly or disabled person. This does not include the person they care for, although that person may fall into one of the priority groups for a different reason.

The link attached is a short video aimed at adults with learning difficulties, to help them understand about the vaccine.
