Takeover Week 22 - part 1

This week we are joining in the fantastic Children’s Commissioner’s Takeover Day - except we do it for the whole week! Students across school have chosen which adult they would like to replace by ‘taking over’ their role and experiencing what it is like to be making decisions as an adult and getting their work done. It is always a positive experience for our students and for the staff. Most of our students go with their chosen member of staff to carry out their duties - ranging from office work, kitchen work, premises, supporting pupils - even being the headteacher!

On Monday, Mackenzie helped with dismissal. She sorted all the dismissal cards and went and greeted the drivers and asked their numbers. Then she made sure the students were called for their transport and got on safely to make their way home - she didn’t even mind about getting wet in the rain!

Today, Hakeem was in the admin team with Jill. Hakeem helped out in the office by sending out raffle tickets to parents, wrote out the envelopes, cut and folded the tickets - one to go home and the other half of the ticket in the raffle box. The envelopes are written beautifully and his joined up writing is excellent, so if you have one in your child’s bag tonight it was written by Hakeem. We also used the radio to radio the site team and updated notice boards with the updated menu.

Look out for more takeovers happening all week!
