FairTrade Fortnight - Newfield Bake Off 2023

This week we have been looking at Fair Trade and what that means in classes and have been preparing for the Bake Off competition held this afternoon.

Pupils have learnt about farmers being paid a fair price for their products and have looked at food and other items available - and how we can spot the fair trade items by looking for the logo!

Classes have each made a creation, using at least one fair trade ingredient, for our bake off and what a selection we’ve seen - lemon, banana, a lot of chocolate - and even a gorilla!!

The catering team and several staff and pupils were on hand to taste, with Kerry and Gill judging.

Thanks to our judges, Alison and Vicky for organising and everyone who entered!

It was a very tough decision as all the cakes were fabulous, Suha enjoyed assisting the judges.

Congratulations to our winners A12 - creativity, Shadsworth Autism Provision - Taste and S4 - presentation.

All the cakes in the competition today were fantastic. The taste, and thought that had gone into these was amazing. It was very very hard for myself and Gill to make a decision on the winners. You were all deserving winners we think!!!! Thank you so much again.
