Takeover Week 2023

Today is the start of our annual Takeover Week, where we join in the Children’s Commissioner’s Takeover Day - except we do it for the whole week!

Today is also World Children’s Day - UNICEF’s annual day of action for children, by children, marking the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Students across school get to takeover adult roles around school. There has been lots of excitement from our older learners who want to have a go at jobs and experience the responsibility of being an adult, making decisions and getting work done! It is always a positive experience for our students and for the staff.

Students be going with their chosen member of staff to carry out their duties - ranging from office work, kitchen work, premises, supporting pupils, supporting in hydro, attending meetings and even being the headteacher!

It’s not only a fun week it is a great opportunity for us to help our students develop independence skills linked to Preparing for Adulthood - so watch out for more news on the takeovers this week.
