Lifeskills and Laughs!

Here at Newfield we really believe that developing independence is so important to our young people and some of our pupils have been having a really good time this week working on their life skills.

Pupils in S4 have been doing hair and make up - you can see how much the girls enjoyed it as they washed faces, put on make up and brushed hair - we love the concentration on their faces!

Our oldest students have also been hard at work developing confidence and independence. They have been travel training - learning how to safely use the public bus system - to get down to the town centre from school. They work out bus times, walk to the bus stop and wait, get on the bus and pay, communicating with the friendly driver, then work out when and where to get off.

Once in town, they navigate to YouthZone where they further develop their skills - and from the look of the photos have a really good time and a right old laugh - using the gym equipment.

It is fantastic to see our young people grow and the confidence and happiness that shines from their faces is an absolute delight.
