World Book Day 2026

This year for World Book Day pupils were invited to come to school dressed in comfy/leisure clothes or clothes representing their hobbies and interest as part of the ‘Go all in’ theme.

We have had an exciting day packed full of fun activities including a book cover hunt across school, joining up with thousands of other young people across the country for the BBC’s Live Footy and Booky Club, and reading in different ways across a range of areas in school - as well as at off site venues!

We have read recipes and made sweet treats, dressed up, relaxed, moved around and played outside, all while reading our favourite books.

3 classes (S2, S4 and S8) joined together this morning to take part in the BBC’s live Footy and Booky Quiz.

There was lots of guest presenters including famous sports people and authors. We had a great time and did very well answering 18 out of 20 questions correctly! Well done to us!

TG1 enjoyed a sensory experience using the Louis Armstrong song, What a wonderful world. We read the lyrics together and explored the different parts he sings about. Ab enjoyed ‘red roses too’, Abdu liked ‘skies of blue and clouds of white’, S chose to explore a bright torch as ‘bright blessed day’, and G enjoyed stretching to sign ‘what a wonderful world’.

Today TG 3 enjoyed the sunshine and found different places to read in the sunny school grounds and on our visit to the hospital cafe!

Everyone had a great day and took home their World Book Day book token which can be exchanged for a full book, or put towards payment for any book of your choice - happy reading!
