Well, we’ve certainly got into the rhythm of the school year now, with a very busy week in school.
We started with our Run for the Kids for GOSH on Tuesday, then on Wednesday we had our first staff wellbeing breakfast - it was very well attended and staff enjoyed a cuppa, toast and crumpets, and a chance to catch up with colleagues before getting on with all the activities of the day in school with pupils.
Classes have continued to build new relationships and in Emerald class they have been learning all about each other as new friends. They have been discussing things about each other, likes and dislikes and have also been looking at what makes each of us different. Students participated in disability awareness sessions with class lead Sharon - so some students sat being pushed in wheelchairs, some used blindfolds to experience what life is like when you can’t see what is coming and what some of their peers might experience. Arsalaan, Lacey and Endija said it’s quite scary not being able to see - so they are developing empathy for others.
Students around school have been enjoying taking part in autumnal activities and completing some lovely harvest art. We have also had some sensory cooking going on in our complex needs classes - MasterChef watch out!
And finally on Friday we joined in with World Mental Health day by wearing yellow and spending some time doing activities that we enjoy - playing music, pampering ourselves, cooking, jigsaws, colouring…
We have also had some assemblies where celebrated the culmination of Harvest. We have been collecting ‘tinned fruits’ for Blackburn FoodBank, and Rachel from the FoodBank joined our assemblies to talk about how this helps local people in need.
What a busy week - have a good weekend all!
